Department of Physical Education

We are a very successful department. We have excellent facilities and many of our students have achieved District, County and National Honours.

We have eight members of staff in the department:

Mrs A Williams, Mrs C Grech, Mrs N Isaacs, Mrs. L Thomas, Miss L France

Mr D Jones, Mr I Bonnell, Mr J Williams

Sporting Facilities

  • An all weather playing field – used for soccer, rugby, hockey, athletics, cricket and rounders
  • An indoor swimming pool – used to improve swimming technique in all strokes, learn basic survival and life saving skills and to gain awards in distance and challenge skills
  • A large sports hall – used for basketball, netball, badminton, volleyball, 5-a-side football and cricket nets practice
  • A dance studio – used for dance, aerobics, step aerobics and Pilates
  • Small tarmac area – used for outdoor basketball, tag rugby, and a variety of small sided games
  • Fitness suite – used for weight training and aerobic sessions
  • Hall – used for gymnastics, dance, fitness testing and minor indoor games
  • Local council playing fields – used for school rugby and football training and match

Will I be able to play for a school team?

There will be opportunities for all students to attend practices and represent the school in a wide variety of activities such as:

Soccer, Basketball, Swimming, Dance, Hockey, Rugby, Netball, Badminton, Athletics, Cricket, Rounders, Cross Country

Who will teach me?

You will be taught by one of the six members of staff in the department.

Occasionally, we have visitors to the school from local clubs or development officers who may help in lessons with your teacher.

You may also be given the opportunity to visit other sporting facilities or take part in activities off school site.
